Busy with inspections the past week and was not able to do any up dates, so I will try to squeeze a couple quick ones in.
Last Friday I was down in Cranston inspecting a stone masonry arch which was built in 1896 and is on the National Resgister of Historic structures. The arch spans 41 feet over Pocasset River.
The arch is in great condition for being so old, with scattered areas of missing mortar and efflorescence throughout the joints and the only major problem was a tree growing out of the spandrel wall near the crown. The tree pushed the spandrel wall stones upward cracking the mortar joints and stones, along with leaving a gap of up to 3 inches.
For the inspection we used a 62 foot UBIU (Snooper).
